Courvoisier Gold

by Jasper Russo

Spirits marketers have no doubt noticed how Moscato has taken the wine world by storm and it seems that Courvoisier has beaten them all to the punch with the release this month of Courvoisier Gold, a Moscato and Cognac liqueur.

Rich amber in color, the nose is redolent of orange zest, lime blossom, honeysuckle, turbinado sugar and vanilla. Pleasantly sweet on the palate it features loads of fresh tropical tangerine, guava and lime fruit flavors, expressive floral notes of jasmine, citrus and ginger, rounded out with layers of crème caramel, honey and sandalwood.

Max Cooper – Basal Ganglia

A preview from Max Cooper’s forthcoming Inductions EP, out on 1 October.

It’s a rather different feel from his usual work. There’s little of the effortless smoothness, there’s a deliberate jarringness. Max explains that “This track is a bit of a joke, I just wanted to make something a bit odd and noisy for the dancefloor, something that would slap everyone round the face a bit to wake them up and put a smile on their face with some sillyness. Hence the silly name too, which is a real part of the brain, but one I always thought sounded funny.” The track has big bass squleches and a sort of sense of the disjointedness of Joy Division’s She’s Lost Control. But perhaps that’s me being fanciful, though basal ganglia are part of the brain associated with voluntary motor control.

Brooklyn’s Silver Medallion likes to party like there’s no tomorrow. And he makes music that makes us want to do the same. So this is the perfect track for a Friday night to get things moving. Recently he put out Stay Young, a banging house anthem layered over with grizzly party-hardy vocals sure to make any crowd go wild. Now that Miami’s GTA has taken hold though, it’s been put in overdrive and brought into the main room. They’ve kept the original vocals intact while upping the drop to massive proportions. This one’s for those bottle service, dark room, watching the sun come up kind of nights. Happy weekend everyone!

Boy/girl duo The Shh staked their claim for this summer’s soundtrack with debut EP, The Burning Love, a snapshot of sweetly effervescent indie-pop songs.

Taken from the aforementioned EP, ‘So Over’ is as hard-edged as it gets from Alison Galea & Ian Schranz. It is a fuzzed up affair revolving around a grungy riff but with a sweet centre. It, like the rest of their songs, is compelling, effortlessly cool and listenable.

The Shh’s Burning Love EP was released back in and you can stream it in full here.

MARTEL is a new duo out of LA who have already begun catching some serious attention. With great success, they’ve collaborated with Laidback Luke not once but twice now. First featured on his track We Are The Stars, then a few months back they released their fresh debut tune Ricochet, which has since been remixed by him into a serious banger. Well now it’s getting the remix treatment once again, this time from one of our choice Aussie producers DCUP. And oh man does it bump. In fact, we’re pretty sure there’s never been anything DCUP has put out that we haven’t dug. That being said, it’s no shock that this new mix is right up our alley. A funktacious beat, some sharp vocals, and you’ve got us hooked and on our feet. Get it!
